Munich, Kyoto, Geneva, June 6, 2017 – New long-range and low-power IoT (Internet of Things) technologies like Low-Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) are enabling new use cases in application areas such as smart cities, smart agriculture, smart manufacturing and work safety. Munich, May 23, 2017 – Dr. Wolfram Seidemann, CEO of Giesecke+Devrient Currency Technology, will in future represent the company on the Board of the International Currency Association (ICA). Giesecke+Devrient is a founding member of this industrial association, which was launched in April 2016 to give a voice to cash as an equal means of payment alongside digital and mobile methods, both now and in the future.

Munich, May 16, 2017 – Since last Friday, the ransomware "WannaCry" has attacked more than 200,000 computers in 150 countries and caused enormous damage. Like in previous attacks e.g. with Stuxnet, WannaCry was using a vulnerability within the system of unpatched or unhardened Windows computers. Industrial facilities and equipment without up-to-date IT security patch management are especially at risk: even if patches are already available as in this case, they are often not being installed in a timely manner. The Secure Industrial Visibility (SIV) solutions portfolio by G+D Mobile Security would have helped preventing the spread of WannaCry and thus considerably limited the resulting monetary damage.

Munich, May 15, 2017 – The former Giesecke & Devrient Banknote business unit made its debut as the Giesecke+Devrient Currency Technology independent subgroup at this year’s Currency Conference, where it focused on new banknote security features and Industry 4.0 solutions. The Currency Conference is the largest industry event in the banknote sector.

Following the Annual General Meeting, the members of the Supervisory Board elected him as its new Chairman.

Munich (Germany), April 25, 2017 – At Hannover Messe Industrie, Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) Mobile Security is presenting its complete solution Secure Industrial Visibility (SIV) for the active protection of and remote access to industrial machines. The solution enables a secure connection between two linked end points in order to defend against industrial espionage and cyber attacks. SIV can be used on equipment from any provider or machine manufacturer and secures existing machines (as a retrofit option), as well as new machinery, in Industry 4.0 environments

Munich, April 11, 2017 – In the fiscal year 2016, global security technology group Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) posted the highest revenue in the company’s history. At around EUR 2.1 billion, the figure was almost four percent above the prior year. The technology group’s adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) increased by around 23 percent to EUR 125 million, while the EBIT margin grew by 0.9 percentage points to six percent. Despite increased tax expense following the company’s reorganization, G+D achieved a strongly positive net income of EUR 52.5 million in the fiscal year ending December 31, 2016, roughly equivalent to the result for the previous year. All four business units – Banknote, Mobile Security, Veridos, and secunet – made a positive contribution to Group earnings before interest and taxes.

Munich, April 10, 2017 – Stefan Auerbach, Head of the Mobile Security business unit and Member of the Management Board of Giesecke+Devrient (G+D), is leaving the Group. Carsten Ahrens is taking over the management of Mobile Security, with immediate effect.
